Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team in Torrington. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability
- Support residents with medication administration following prescribed protocols and safety guidelines
- Help with meal preparation and feeding to promote proper nutrition and hydration
- Provide companionship and engage residents in social activities to enhance their mental and emotional well-being
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by assisting with light housekeeping duties
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to document care activities accurately and promptly
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts safely during transfers and repositioning
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer’s care, using specialized techniques
- Follow all safety procedures related to assisted living, nursing home standards, or personal care homes
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and behavior management techniques
- Certification in First Aid is required; CPR certification is a plus
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is advantageous
- Ability to accurately monitor vital signs and recognize signs of health deterioration
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license for transportation duties if required for home & community care roles
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation purposes is desirable
- Demonstrated caregiving skills with a compassionate approach to resident support
