Mission:
The Alliance is the statewide coalition of sexual assault crisis service programs working to end sexual violence through victim assistance, community education, and public policy advocacy. The mission of Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence is to create communities free of sexual violence and to provide culturally affirming, trauma-informed advocacy, prevention, and intervention services centered on the voices of survivors.
Summary:
The Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality trainings and workshops that strengthen the capacity of advocates, prevention staff, and community educators across the coalition. This position also provides tailored technical assistance to The Alliance’s member centers through individual consultations, mentoring, peer learning opportunities, and the development of publications, curricula, and resources.
In addition, the Coordinator plays a key role in fostering professional growth and sustainability within the field by creating spaces for shared learning, innovation, and skill development around the response to and prevention of sexual violence. The role includes educating community partners, allied professionals, and the general public on issues related to sexual violence, prevention, services and trauma-informed response. The Coordinator ensures that training and technical assistance efforts are evidence-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with The Alliance’s mission and strategic priorities.
The Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator is a full-time position with benefits. This position reports to the Prevention and Education Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with development and coordination of standardized training content and serve as a trainer for Alliance workshops, trainings, and conferences to service providers, educators, allied professionals, and community partners regarding best practices and emerging trends in sexual violence prevention and intervention.
- Work with the Prevention and Education Manager to develop and implement ongoing training and technical assistance for Alliance staff, Alliance member programs, and community partners.
- Assist Prevention and Education Manager with oversight of the statewide sexual assault crisis services certification for victim advocates.
- Support The Alliance’s primary prevention plan and cultivate new prevention partnerships.
- Assist with maintenance of Member Center Portal materials and resources, contribute to maintaining internal and external listservs.
- Assist the Alliance with implementation of annual communications plans that support print, online, and ad-hoc organizational communications.
- Work with member centers to ensure data in EmpowerDB database regarding certification and recertification of counselor/advocates are current and accurate.
- Provide technical assistance, facilitation and development of capacity-building for prevention educators from member centers, including coordination of prevention education meetings for Alliance member programs.
- Assist with correspondence, scheduling, logistics, reporting and other administrative aspects of programs and events such as training, conferences, and webinars.
- Perform other job‐related duties as assigned by the Prevention and Education Manager.
- Assist Prevention and Education Manager with management of intern projects where applicable.
Education and Years of Experience:
- Bachelors in related field and 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
- Successful experience in public speaking, providing trainings, and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated experience working with victims of crime, trauma survivors or other communities impacted by violence.
- Demonstrated understanding of anti-violence issues and gender-based violence.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sexual violence as a preventable public health epidemic.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Experience in training adults and group facilitation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft360 and Canva.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to accurately update and maintain records.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment in East Hartford, CT
Travel:
The position requires regular in-state travel, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Additional Information:
The successful candidate must acquire and maintain Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor/Advocate certification within the first six months of employment.
