This full-time Sleep Lab Polysomnographer will conduct and monitor sleep disorder studies, including PSG, MSLT, and MWT, and provide critical diagnostic data to physicians. The role supports patient care and contributes to advancing sleep medicine services.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and schedule a variety of sleep studies including PSG, MSLT, and MWT
Score, evaluate, and archive polysomnograms according to established protocols
Operate, calibrate, and maintain sleep lab equipment ensuring optimal functionality
Monitor patients throughout testing to ensure accuracy, comfort, and safety
Prepare comprehensive reports for physicians and referring providers
Consult with healthcare providers, home care companies, and patients regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and outcomes
Provide patient education about sleep disorders, procedures, and post-study expectations
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with medical necessity and insurance documentation requirements
Support the mission and philosophy of the facility and adhere to departmental policies and safety procedures
Assist in quality improvement activities and ongoing clinical training
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program or certification by the National Board for Respiratory Therapy (NBRC)
Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) or ability to obtain within one year of hire
Working knowledge of patient age-specific care
Proficient in administering oxygen therapy, CPAP, BiPAP, and other positive-pressure breathing devices
Skilled in performing electrocardiograms (EKG), aerosol therapy, EEGs, pulmonary function testing, and arterial blood gas analysis (if certified)
Demonstrated knowledge of patient safety standards, infection control, and emergency response protocols
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience in sleep lab or respiratory care
