What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Machine Operator position at Connect Staffing?
Pay: $21–$22/hr
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 1st Shift
Location: Sealy, TX

Work Environment: Manufacturing Plant / Factory
Responsibilities
- Lead a crew of machine operators on the production line, ensuring safe and proper operation throughout the shift.
- Oversee startup, shutdown, and changeovers of production-line equipment.
- Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and communicate issues to maintenance and management via work orders in the Fiix CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Coordinate product and recipe changes with the production team and shuttle drivers; stage raw materials for the next production run before shift end.
- Document lot numbers for all materials used in production and maintain records of machine data, start/stop times, and downtime reasons.
- Identify process hazards and anomalies and report them to the appropriate parties; participate in the SikaSafe safety program.
Minimum Requirements
- 2 years of experience operating a production line or industrial manufacturing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience gathering and testing finished material samples for thickness and weight using ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) testing protocols.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as Fiix for submitting and tracking maintenance work orders.
- Background in roofing materials, building products, or construction materials manufacturing.
- Experience attending and contributing to pre-shift production meetings or daily huddles.
- Ability to read and follow production schedules and coordinate material staging at shift end.
- Experience leading or mentoring a crew of machine operators or production workers.
- Ability to operate equipment through a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) / HMI (Human-Machine Interface) control system.
