Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Full-time Building Maintenance/Handyman to join our facilities management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various aspects of our buildings and properties, ensuring a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for our staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across multiple buildings and facilities
- Conduct regular inspections of premises and equipment to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations
- Carry out minor plumbing repairs and maintenance
- Perform basic electrical work, such as replacing light fixtures and outlets
- Conduct carpentry tasks, including repairs to doors, windows, and furniture
- Maintain and repair HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency
- Paint interior and exterior surfaces as needed
- Perform grounds maintenance, including lawn care, snow removal, and basic landscaping
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and order replacements as necessary
- Assist with moving furniture and equipment
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry best practices
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in building maintenance or related field
- Proficiency in various handyman skills, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and their maintenance
- Familiarity with power tools and hand tools
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred:
- Associate's degree in facilities management or related field
- Certifications in specific trade areas (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
- Experience with building automation systems
