The Opportunity
We’re seeking an Project Manager to lead the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related systems for a transformative multi-billion dollar data center project. As General Contractor, Developer, and Owner’s Representative, this firm is driving a ground-up, mission-critical build requiring precision, technical expertise, and leadership in MEP coordination. You’ll oversee MEP scopes, budgets, schedules, and integration, ensuring seamless execution of tech-heavy systems like power redundancies, cooling, and fire suppression. What You'll Do
MEP Project Management
- Lead MEP scope from preconstruction through commissioning, ensuring integration with overall data center build.
- Develop and manage MEP schedules, budgets, and logistics, focusing on critical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection).
- Coordinate MEP design reviews, ensuring compliance with owner contracts, Uptime Institute tiers, and sustainability goals.
- Oversee MEP subcontractor buyout, scope development, and performance for mission-critical systems.
- Manage MEP RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings; facilitate clash detection using BIM/Revit.
- Drive commissioning, testing, and startup of MEP systems, ensuring zero-downtime readiness.
Financial & Risk Oversight
- Monitor MEP budgets, cash flow, and forecasting; approve subcontractor pay apps and track cost-to-complete.
- Develop and manage MEP-related Owner Change Orders (OCOs) and Subcontractor Change Orders (SCOs).
- Proactively mitigate risks, including supply chain delays, equipment lead times, and technical conflicts.
- Maintain accurate MEP financials and documentation in systems like Procore or CMiC.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Act as primary MEP liaison for owners, developers, design teams, and subs; lead MEP-focused meetings.
- Build lasting partnerships with MEP trades, consultants, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project goals.
- Mentor Assistant PMs, Project Engineers, and field teams on MEP integration and best practices.
Operational Excellence
- Champion safety, quality, and compliance for MEP scopes, adhering to codes, permits, and data center standards.
- Oversee MEP-specific elements like raised flooring, power distribution, cooling systems, and sustainable features.
- Ensure seamless coordination between MEP and other trades, resolving conflicts early via BIM and field oversight.
- Drive operational efficiency for MEP systems, supporting the project’s multi-billion dollar scale.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field—or equivalent experience.
- 5 years managing MEP scopes on large-scale industrial/commercial projects ($100M ), with data center or mission-critical experience preferred.
- Deep expertise in MEP systems (power, HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression), BIM/Revit coordination, and data center standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE).
- Strong skills in budgeting, scheduling, and resolving complex MEP challenges in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional communicator with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset; experience mentoring diverse teams.
- Proficient in project management software (Procore, CMiC, Bluebeam, MS Project) and MEP-specific tools.
