Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Specialist role based in Freetown. The EHS Specialist will develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs and policies to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations, as well as monitoring compliance with local regulations and company standards. The role involves designing and delivering safety training, maintaining EHS documentation and reports, and recommending corrective and preventive actions. The EHS Specialist will collaborate with operations, facilities, and leadership teams to promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to identify hazards and recommend effective controls.
- Experience in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) program development and implementation, including policy creation and compliance monitoring.
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety practices, risk assessment methods, and incident investigation processes.
- Ability to design and deliver engaging Safety Training sessions tailored to different roles and levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Familiarity with relevant local and international EHS regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills, with attention to detail and data-driven decision-making.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence safe behaviors at all levels of the organization.
- Professional EHS certifications or training (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) are an advantage.
