Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator (5–10 years) to prepare detailed project estimates, manage subcontractor pricing, and support our preconstruction and operations teams. This role is responsible for complete takeoffs, cost analysis, bid preparation, and proposal handoff for awarded projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and multifamily construction projects.
- Complete quantity takeoffs for all divisions, including potential self-perform work.
- Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and vendor bids.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and addenda to define scope.
- Perform scope reviews and qualify subcontractors prior to selection.
- Develop budgets, cost models, conceptual estimates, and value-engineering options.
- Maintain historical cost data for future pricing accuracy.
- Work closely with Project Managers for accurate proposal handoff.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings and internal coordination sessions.
- Consistently meet deadlines and produce accurate bid packages.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5–10 years of construction estimating experience (commercial and/or multifamily).
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and cost controls.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Experience negotiating and pricing subcontractor/vendor work.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general estimating tools.
- Ability to work on-site in Columbus, OH.
Preferred:
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or Microsoft Project.
- Experience estimating projects from $1M–$80M.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
