Congressional School seeks a French Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The French Teacher is responsible for providing an effective learning environment through planning, organizing, developing, and assessing a comprehensive instructional French program for children in Preschool through Lower School. The French Teacher is knowledgeable about the cognitive and social-emotional development of children in these age groups and possesses a firm understanding of Spanish language and culture. In addition to the below duties and responsibilities, the Spanish Teacher will be positive, collaborative, innovative, and passionate.

- Develops, implements, assesses and modifies, as necessary, a dynamic French language program for Primary and Lower School students that aligns with Congressional's mission, vision, and values
- Uses a variety of methods, materials, and techniques to teach French language and culture
- Organizes classroom systems and procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning.
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities
- Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
- Assesses students' knowledge for the purposes of refining classroom activities and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding students' progress, expectations and goals
- Actively seeks opportunities for professional development
- Listens and responds to student and parent concerns in a responsible, constructive and resourceful manner
- Actively supports the school philosophy, community, and policies
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the Division Director
- Bachelor's degree in French, unless native speaker; Master's degree in education preferred.
- Minimum 2 years' experience teaching French, preferably in an independent school.
- Fluency and expertise in conversational and written French.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in child development and educational practices.
