Position Summary 


The Domestic Violence Workforce Specialist is responsible for supporting and empowering survivors of Domestic Violence to achieve and sustain economic self-sufficiency. The Specialist will provide both individual case management and group workshops to build financial literacy and career-readiness skills for more than 50 clients annually. The Specialist will use a trauma-informed approach to create personalized action plans with each client and support them on their pathway to economic independence and safety. The program will follow the Allstate Foundation's Moving Ahead curriculum and workforce development practices to support 50 clients in reaching their economic goals annually.  This position will focus on connecting survivors to education and workforce services and supporting them through program completion, increasing their monthly income and their financial savings.

 

This position reports to the Manager of Family Wellness. This is a Hybrid position. 

 

The Domestic Violence Workforce Specialist applies the principles of the organization’s signature service delivery approach, Primary Client Model (PCM™), by promoting a positive employee-focused experience that is appreciative of the unique strengths, values and needs that each employee brings to the workplace; and by using data to inform and drive decision making. Essential Functions

  • Represent Congreso’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and will be an ambassador of our work.
  • Conduct an initial client intake, which includes: an agreement to services, a needs assessment, and the mutual development of a goal/service plan. 
  • Assist clients in reaching their financial goals through life skills and financial literacy programming, such as creating and maintaining a budget, opening a bank account, and developing savings goals.
  • Assist clients in reaching their workforce goals through career skills programming, such as resume assistance, interview preparation, and placing clients in education and workforce training programs or entry-level jobs.
  • Facilitate group workshops on career readiness, financial literacy, financial abuse, and Intimate Partner Violence.
  • Provide counseling, case management, referral linkage, advocacy, and educational services at Congreso’s main office, in the community, within emergency shelters, and within client’s home. 
  • Coordinate with the program manager to help remove barriers such as transportation, enrollment costs, professional clothing, etc.
  • Work closely with the Housing Advocate, the Education and Workforce Services Division, and the Family and Housing Services Division to create pathways for clients to achieve economic stability and independence. 
  • Aid the leadership with administrative aspects of the program.
  • Document work through maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files and completing data entry.
  • Comply with all client confidentiality regulations as specified by agency, funding source, local, state and federal regulations. 
  • Regularly attend bi-weekly supervisory meetings, staff meetings, and trainings.

Non-Essential Functions 

  • Attend relevant workshops or join professional groups as necessary to maintain professional knowledge and licensure.  
  • Adheres to the Congreso’s security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information. 
  • Facilitates and attends relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals. 
  • Completes special projects specific to the function of the department or as needed for the department as directed by Supervisor. 
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

  • Ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information and understanding for issues such as confidentiality, domestic abuse, child abuse, and mandated reporter requirements.
  • Adheres to all Congreso, departmental, programmatic, and security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Attends all Congreso trainings and in-services as required, including relevant professional groups to maintain professional, requisite knowledge and licensure.
  • Attends, participates, and facilitates relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
  • Ability to effectively use standard office equipment, including a variety of common software programs such as Office365, UNIDAD, and other customized databases.
  • Follows through on assignments, works in a timely manner, within established deadlines, and completes special projects specific to the function of the department, as needed or as directed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups, in a compassionate, courteous, and respectful manner that fosters an inclusive environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including effective and respectful communication with individuals and groups.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) written and verbal skills required.


 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Minimum Experience, Education, and Qualifications 

 

Minimum Experience: 

  • 1-2 years work experience in workforce specific case management, counseling and advocacy. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required. 

 

 

Minimum Education: 

BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in counseling, psychology, social work or related field. Suitable combination of education and two to three years direct counseling experience in related field may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree requirement. 

 

Certification/License: 40 hours domestic violence training certificate from an approved PCADV training program, to be completed post hire.
