Part-Time Building Maintenance/Custodian
The Congregation Sinai Part-Time Custodians are responsible to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the building, grounds, and equipment so that the physical environment of the building serves as an instrument of the mission of the congregation. These positions report directly to the Executive Director, with dotted-line responsibility to the Director of Engagement.
In order to be effective in this position, the person must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends, be prompt, organized, observant, possessing the ability to adjust to the changing needs of the congregation, strong communication skills and committed to workings of Congregation Sinai.
- Helps to maintain building (inside and out) in a clean and orderly state at all times; this includes bathrooms, kitchens, school, offices, garbage, recycling, replenishing supplies including tissue, toilet paper, hand soap and other paper products
- And other miscellaneous cleaning as needed
- Work with Director of Engagement, Executive Director, Youth Educator, and Office & School Administrator to carry out room set ups for events (ie; bnei mitzvah, weddings, congregational and/or school events).
- Knowledge with set up and possibly running tech equipment a plus
- Performs general maintenance activities
- Completes minor repairs of all equipment and general facilities
- Operates building equipment (ie: snow blower, carpet cleaner, floor stripper and polisher) when needed
- Inspects all facilities routinely and informs Executive Director if something is needed with the willingness to then take action
- Ensures safe environment.
- Familiar with security and safety policies, procedures and equipment should an incident occur while onsite.
- Interacting with outside vendors
- Runs errands as necessary for the smooth operation of the Temple (ie: hardware store, Sam’s Club)
- Performs all other duties as needed and assigned
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree a plus
- 3 - 5 years related experience
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Tidy, organized, resourceful
- Team oriented
- Working knowledge and efficient use of text and email technology
- Ability to work independently
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 18 – 20 per week
