Temple Attendant: Janitorial and Facilities Support

Job Brief:

The Janitorial and Facilities Support person is key to the smooth running, cleanliness and overall aesthetics of the temple. This includes tasks such as cleaning of the office, preschool, and social and religious spaces. Includes setting up and taking down equipment and furniture for meetings, special events and classes. Must also provide customer service to members and guests. Performs other tasks as assigned.

This position reports directly to the Director and works with a team to take care of our building and carry out cleaning. The goal is to keep our building in a clean and orderly condition.

Responsibilities

• Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc.)
• Perform and document routine inspections and maintenance activities ( Maintenance experience a plus)
• Carryout heavy cleaning tasks and special projects
• Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
• Make adjustments and notify of minor repairs
• Stock and maintain supply rooms
• Cooperate with and maintain a good working relationship with fellow staff
• Follow all health and safety regulations
• Setup and teardown for events
• Duties as assigned

Requirements and Skills

• Proven working experience as a Janitor
• Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
• Integrity and ability to work independently
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to pass a background check and work around small children
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Schedule:

Sunday - Thursday 12:00-8:30 PM Full-time

Monday - Friday 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Part-time

• Monthly special events require schedule flexibility.
• Weekend Shift Janitor

Duties:

- Perform industrial cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Empty trash cans and dispose of waste materials properly
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, and windowsills
- Maintain cleanliness in common areas such as hallways, lobbies, and break rooms
- Restock supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap
- Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers and carpet cleaners
- Follow safety protocols and use protective equipment when necessary

-Maintenance experience a plus!

Qualifications:

- Previous experience as a janitor or in facilities maintenance preferred
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques and equipment operation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks for extended periods of time
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
