Must-Haves

• Modular, reusable Terraform across all Google Cloud Platform networking constructs - remote state management, policy enforced as code, and CI/CD security-gate integration
• Solid grasp of VPC Service Controls, Private Google Access, network segmentation, and how PCI-DSS and ISO 27001 map onto Google Cloud Platform network design
• Hands-on Dedicated/Partner Interconnect and HA VPN with BGP dynamic routing - failover testing, bandwidth planning, on-prem routing integration
• Practical Python for network automation - IP management, firewall provisioning, compliance reporting, Google Cloud Platform API integration, event-driven remediation via Cloud Functions
• Strong command of hierarchical firewall policies and VPC firewall rules (tag- and service-account-based), security group equivalents, and systematic rule auditing
• Deep hands-on Google Cloud Platform networking - VPC, Shared VPC, Cloud Interconnect (Dedicated & Partner), HA VPN, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS, Network Intelligence Center, Cloud Armor, multi-region
• Production load balancer configuration on Google Cloud Platform - backend services, health checks, URL maps, SSL policy management

About the Role

An enterprise on Google Cloud needs a Network & Infrastructure Engineer to design, ship, and operate its networking backbone at scale. You'll go deep on Google Cloud Platform networking - VPC architecture, hybrid links, load balancing, firewall policy - and lean on Python and Terraform to codify and automate the whole thing. Expect to keep connectivity fast, resilient, and secure across multi-region and hybrid estates while partnering with platform, security, and app teams on compliant foundations for critical workloads.

What You'll Do

Automation & Infrastructure as Code

• Write Python scripts and Cloud Functions to automate provisioning, firewall rule lifecycle, IP allocation, and compliance checks - plugged into CI/CD for continuous governance
• Author and version-control Terraform modules for every network component (VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, load balancers, NAT, interconnects) for repeatable, auditable, drift-free deploys

Security & Perimeter

• Stand up VPC Service Controls perimeters around sensitive services, apply Cloud Armor WAF policies, manage SSL certificates, and enforce Private Google Access to shut down exfiltration paths
• Design and enforce hierarchical firewall policies and VPC firewall rules (tag- and service-account-based), auditing rule sets routinely to remove over-permissive access

Observability, Capacity & Compliance

• Keep configurations aligned to PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and SOC 2; maintain architecture docs and support internal and external audits
• Run capacity assessments, model traffic growth, tune routing and interconnect utilization, and recommend changes for better throughput, latency, and cost
• Instrument with VPC Flow Logs, Firewall Rules Logging, Network Intelligence Center, and Cloud Monitoring; run proactive performance analysis and lead incident RCAs

Connectivity & Routing

• Manage Cloud DNS (public and private zones), configure DNS peering for hybrid environments, and use Traffic Director or Cloud Endpoints for service mesh and advanced routing
• Operate Cloud NAT gateways for controlled outbound access from private instances - tuning sizing, port allocation, and logging for scale and egress visibility
• Deploy and run Dedicated and Partner Interconnect circuits, HA VPN tunnels, and BGP routing to connect on-prem data centers to Google Cloud Platform regions over high-bandwidth, low-latency paths

VPC & Traffic Distribution

• Build and operate Google Cloud Platform load balancers (External/Internal HTTP(S), TCP/SSL Proxy, Network) - backend services, health checks, URL maps, SSL policies
• Architect VPC environments - Shared VPC topologies, peering, subnet design, IPAM - aligned to enterprise segmentation and multi-tenant needs
