About the Opportunity
A growing, multi-site healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance / Controller to provide strategic financial leadership across multiple physician-led business units. This executive will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and physician partners while overseeing financial operations, long-range planning, budgeting, reporting, and operational performance.
This role requires a highly collaborative yet independent leader who can balance strategic decision-making with hands-on financial oversight. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with physicians, executive leadership, and governing boards while driving financial performance, operational efficiencies, and organizational growth.
Travel: Approximately 15% throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior financial leader supporting multiple healthcare operations and physician practices.
- Partner with executive leadership and physician stakeholders to provide financial guidance and strategic decision support.
- Develop and present financial reports, business analyses, and recommendations to executive leadership and governing boards.
- Prepare financial models, feasibility studies, and pro formas for new service lines, capital investments, acquisitions, and expansion opportunities.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Monitor organizational financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Analyze key financial and operational metrics to support informed business decisions.
- Ensure strong internal controls, financial compliance, and adherence to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and support strategic initiatives, process improvements, and cross-functional projects.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and clinical leadership to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.
- Build trusted relationships with physicians, executives, and operational leaders while serving as a strategic business partner.
- Operate with a high degree of independence, accountability, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably within healthcare.
- Demonstrated experience supporting physician practices, ambulatory healthcare organizations, or multi-site healthcare operations.
- Experience preparing complex financial models, pro formas, capital analyses, and business cases.
- Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership, governing boards, or physician boards.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and operational finance.
- Proven ability to influence executive decision-making through financial analysis and strategic insight.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Master's degree (MBA or MHA) strongly preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Experience working within physician-owned or physician-led healthcare organizations.
- Experience supporting organizational growth, acquisitions, or expansion initiatives.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, physician compensation models, and healthcare financial operations.
