A leading media organization is seeking a Senior Vice President / General Manager to build and lead a new personality driven editorial first media initiative delivering reporting, analysis, and insight at the intersection of business, technology, and emerging industries. This role will be based in New York and will work closely with senior leadership to build and scale this initiative.
This initiative brings a sharp editorial perspective to the forces reshaping the modern economy, covering the companies, technologies, policies, and power dynamics defining the next era of American industry. The platform is designed to deliver agenda setting, personality driven, must read reporting that highlights leading executives, innovators, and innovations, while providing insights that guide executives and decision makers.
Alongside this editorial mission, the platform is building a commercial model for how brands and institutions engage with high value audiences through intelligence, conversation, and influence.
The Senior Vice President / General Manager will play a central role in launching and scaling the platform, shaping editorial strategy, making key editorial decisions, developing the revenue strategy, securing founding partners, and building the systems that turn a promising editorial initiative into a durable, high growth business.
The ideal candidate is a builder and operator with deep newsroom instincts, commercial fluency, and the ability to lead across editorial, audience development, and revenue strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing editorial team, defining strategy, priorities, and standards for best-in-class coverage
- Oversee multi-platform content development including newsletters, video, digital, social, and live/curated experiences
- Drive day-to-day editorial decision-making across breaking coverage, analysis, and long-form reporting in areas such as AI, manufacturing, biotech, fintech, and adjacent sectors
- Develop clear editorial pillars to enable differentiated, high-impact coverage of key industries and leaders
- Maintain a distinctive editorial voice that is insightful, engaging, and tailored to a senior business audience
- Cultivate relationships with influential executives, founders, and industry leaders
Audience & Community Development
- Build and grow a highly engaged, high-value audience across multiple channels
- Deliver actionable insights that inform decision-making among business leaders and executives
- Develop premium experiences that combine journalism, access, and curated convenings
- Establish the platform as a destination for insight, dialogue, and influence at the intersection of business, technology, and policy
Commercial Strategy
- Partner with leadership to identify and develop revenue opportunities aligned with the editorial mission
- Build foundational commercial partnerships, sponsorships, and event-driven revenue streams
- Develop scalable monetization strategies across content, experiences, and brand collaborations
- Ensure commercial initiatives enhance, rather than compromise, editorial integrity and audience trust
Team Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and lead a cross-functional team spanning editorial, audience, and commercial functions
- Operate as a hands-on leader, driving key initiatives while establishing scalable operating structures
- Collaborate closely with editorial, product, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment across priorities
Candidate Profile
- 10 years of experience in editorial leadership, newsroom management, content strategy, or related senior roles
- Experience operating in environments where editorial and commercial priorities intersect
- Track record of building and scaling editorial products, media brands, or content-driven businesses
- Strong editorial judgment and understanding of audience development and trust-building
- Experience engaging senior executives, founders, or high-level industry stakeholders
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in ambiguity and building from zero
- Strong leadership presence, communication skills, and cross-functional influence
- Deep interest in innovation, emerging industries, and the evolving business landscape
This role is based in New York City and requires on-site presence.
Compensation
This role offers a highly competitive executive compensation package designed to reflect both immediate impact and long-term value creation.
- Base Salary: $275,000–$325,000
- Target Bonus: Performance-based bonus tied to key business and audience metrics
- Additional Incentive Opportunity: Upside linked to the success and growth of the platform
Total compensation is expected to range from $375,000–$450,000 for strong performers, with additional upside potential for exceptional results.
