Build and Operate the Future of Power Infrastructure

Company Confidential

We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and technically elite Senior Vice President of Behind-the-Meter Power Operations to lead the strategy, execution, operations, and optimization of large-scale behind-the-meter (BTM) energy systems supporting hyperscale and AI-driven data center developments.

This is a senior executive leadership role responsible for overseeing multi-gigawatt power infrastructure platforms that operate independently of traditional utility delivery models. The ideal candidate understands the intersection of power generation, grid interconnection, energy markets, mission-critical operations, and hyperscale data center reliability requirements.

You will work directly with executive leadership, utilities, power developers, EPC firms, and the world’s largest technology companies to ensure reliable, scalable, and economically optimized energy delivery across a rapidly expanding portfolio of next-generation data center campuses.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape one of the most important infrastructure sectors in the world.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead all operational aspects of behind-the-meter power infrastructure across a multi-gigawatt portfolio
  • Develop and execute long-term operational strategies for natural gas generation, microgrids, battery storage, renewable integration, and hybrid energy systems
  • Build scalable operating models for mission-critical energy infrastructure supporting hyperscale data centers and AI compute environments
  • Advise executive leadership on power reliability, capacity planning, redundancy, resilience, and energy economics

Power Operations & Reliability

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of on-site generation assets and energy infrastructure
  • Ensure uptime, reliability, and operational excellence across all facilities
  • Develop preventive maintenance, emergency response, and operational readiness programs
  • Implement best practices for N 1 / 2N redundancy and mission-critical power operations
  • Establish performance metrics, reporting systems, and operational KPIs

Energy Markets & Utility Coordination

  • Manage relationships with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, fuel suppliers, and transmission operators
  • Optimize participation in energy markets, demand response programs, and grid services where applicable
  • Support interconnection strategies and utility coordination efforts
  • Evaluate power procurement structures and fuel supply resilience strategies

Technical & Development Oversight

  • Collaborate with development, engineering, and construction teams on new project design and commissioning
  • Review generation technologies and advise on system architecture decisions
  • Lead operational readiness during project turnover from construction to live operations
  • Support due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and power infrastructure investments

Team Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing operational organization
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering, operations, and energy management personnel
  • Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, safety, and innovation

Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience in power generation, mission-critical infrastructure, utility operations, energy development, or related sectors
  • Deep understanding of behind-the-meter generation systems and large-scale power operations
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Natural gas generation
  • Microgrids
  • Distributed energy resources (DERs)
  • Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Utility-scale backup power systems

  • Energy markets and utility coordination
  • Reliability engineering
  • Electrical infrastructure and redundancy models
  • Experience operating or supporting mission-critical environments with zero-failure expectations
  • Proven executive leadership experience managing complex infrastructure teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-growth, fast-moving development environments

Preferred Experience

  • Hyperscale or AI data center infrastructure experience
  • Experience working with utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), or large energy developers
  • Familiarity with PJM and other wholesale power markets
  • Experience scaling infrastructure platforms exceeding 500MW
  • Background in energy trading, dispatch optimization, or load balancing strategies
  • Engineering degree preferred; advanced technical or business degree is a plus
