Job Description:
Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing, managing employee data, and complying with relevant regulations, including certified payroll reports and compliance with prevailing wage laws.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll in-house for construction staff, ensuring accurate calculations for hours worked, commissions, bonuses, and deductions.
- Keep precise employee records, including personal details, pay rates, deductions, and tax withholdings.
- Ensure timely and correct payment of wages to employees.
- Prepare and file weekly certified payroll reports, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage regulations.
- Generate and review monthly compliance reports to ensure adherence to both state and federal laws.
- Handle and process monthly Union Fringe benefit payments.
- Administer multi-state payroll processing.
- Process employee garnishments in accordance with applicable laws.
- Update and maintain payroll software and related systems.
- Reconcile payroll data to ensure precision and completeness.
- Assist with payroll audits and respond to inquiries as needed.
- Perform other related responsibilities as required.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills, and the ability to work under deadline
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll records and prevent disclosure
- Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Payroll Software, Microsoft Word and Excel
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or in another related Finance Field
- 2-5 years of related experience
- Experience with Viewpoint, Exaktime is preferable
