Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced First Mile & Middle Mile Operations Manager to lead and optimize inbound logistics, line-haul transportation, and inter-hub movements across the South Florida region.
This role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence from origin pickup through hub-to-hub transfers, managing vendor performance, cost efficiency, service levels, and execution in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong transportation leadership experience, regional or cross-border logistics exposure, and the ability to manage teams and third-party partners during overnight operations.
⚠️ This is a Night Shift role and requires full flexibility to work overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
First Mile Operations
- Oversee pickup operations from shippers, sellers, and consolidation points
- Ensure SLA compliance for pickup schedules, scanning accuracy, and handover timelines
- Coordinate with transport vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution
- Monitor route planning, vehicle utilization, and capacity forecasting
- Manage escalations related to delays, service failures, and operational exceptions
Middle Mile Operations
- Lead line-haul and inter-hub (hub-to-hub / cross-dock) transportation
- Manage carrier performance, transit times, and cost controls
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and transportation regulations
- Optimize route planning, load consolidation, and scheduling to reduce cost per shipment
- Coordinate closely with sort centers and last-mile teams for smooth handovers
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline operations teams
- Manage third-party logistics providers and transportation vendors
- Act as the key liaison between Operations, Procurement, Finance, and Planning
- Prepare and present performance dashboards, reports, and KPIs
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Track KPIs including on-time pickup, line-haul performance, cost per mile, utilization, and exception rates
- Identify operational gaps and drive process improvement initiatives
- Implement SOPs and best practices across first and middle mile operations
- Support expansion projects, new route launches, and network optimization initiatives
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field (preferred)
- 5 years of experience in transportation, first mile, or middle mile operations
- Strong experience in line-haul, cross-dock, or hub-to-hub logistics
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and third-party vendors
- Fluent in Spanish and English (mandatory)
- Strong analytical and KPI-driven mindset
- Ability to operate in a high-volume, fast-paced logistics environment
- Knowledge of US transportation regulations and safety standards is an advantage
- Willingness and ability to work permanent night shifts (mandatory)
