Basic Function:
Our Renal Networks are federally funded contracts responsible for quality improvement, patient safety, and data collection activities supporting Medicare’s End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) program. The Midwest Quality Improvement Specialist assists in developing, implementing, evaluating and refining the ESRD Network’s quality improvement activities for dialysis and renal transplant facilities.
Organizational Relationships:
This position reports directly to the Executive Director
Role and Responsibilities:·
- Works with staff to design, implement, manage, and evaluate quality improvement projects focused on improving the quality of dialysis patient care at both the facility and regional levels
- Oversees and monitors the development and implementation of the quality improvement activities as outlined in the statement of work in partnership with the project team
- Provides technical assistance and education to dialysis providers and facility quality improvementbpersonnel virtually and in person.·
- Works with data analyst to collect and analyze data in order to identify opportunities for improvement
- Utilizes Internal Quality Control (IQC) tracking software to document activities to improve departmentproducts and processes
- Demonstrates problem solving, leadership, conflict management, and team building skills in order toensure a productive work environment and achievement of contract goals
- Provide clinical assistance during Network case‐review
- Review documentation including but not limited to medical records, facility policies and procedures, and facility staffing plans related to grievant complaints
- Assists with coordination and facilitation of Medical Review Board· Assist with conducting interviews with the grievant, family members, facility staff or others as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director

Skills / Professional Competencies Required:
- Experience in nephrology, particularly with the End Stage Renal Disease population including familiarity with all modes of treatment available to renal patients (in-center, home, and transplant)
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite and particularly in use of Excel for data collection, tracking, analysis, and presentation
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to develop clear and concise reports
- An understanding of continuous quality improvement concepts and tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with varied populations (patients, nurses, physicians, government officials, etc.)
- Ability to collect data (including lab values, demographic statistics, and survey/questionnaire data) and analyze it in order to identify opportunities for improvement
- Organizational ability and capacity to coordinate a number of ongoing projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail while maintaining a strategic, “big picture" focus
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well in stressful situations
- Occasional travel to dialysis facilities and/or transplant centers required
- Must reside in North Dakota
Minimum Education/Training Required:
Experience and expertise in quality improvement approaches and techniques. Bachelor’s degree in nursing required with at least 3 years nephrology nursing experience required.

Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Certification in Nephrology Nursing strongly preferred

Pay: $81,573.69 - $105,000.00 per year
