Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machining equipment to produce precision parts and components. Your expertise in reading blueprints, using precision measuring instruments, and understanding mechanical drawings will be essential to ensure the highest quality standards. Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to accurately produce parts
- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining tools with precision and safety
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters based on project requirements
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Perform basic CNC programming for manual machines when required or assist in CNC setup processes using Fanuc controls or similar systems
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Follow safety protocols diligently while handling power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools
- Assist in assembly processes and support plastics injection molding operations as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspection results, and machine adjustments
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or similar role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs
- Skilled in CNC programming and operation of CNC lathes and milling machines using Fanuc or equivalent controls
- Familiarity with GD&T principles for ensuring part quality and consistency
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), CAM programming, SolidWorks CAD software, and basic math skills for precise measurements
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, welding equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing machinery safely
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in plastics injection molding or assembly processes is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
