Small newer 1bd/1ba apartment with washer/dryer, 1 carport, and utilities paid, is included. This position is NOT suited for a family as the apartment is small and not childproof. Apartment pets must be approved. No applicant ranch animals. Max occupancy 2 in this apartment.
***THIS IS NOT A HORSE BACK RIDING POSITION***
Work day begins at 7am sharp and ends roughly 5pm (after feeding which starts at 4pm). Weekly work is roughly 40hrs depending on the individuals time management skills. After 3 month probation period, employee can take up to 10 personal days off - These days are acrued over the year.
This is a privately owned 60acre ranch. The job is labor intensive! A qualified applicant MUST be able to lift 50lb feed bags and bales of hay regularly, work outside in various weather conditions. The applicant must be reliable, dependable, and have a good attitude. The applicant must be comfortable interacting with all animals (horses, goats, chickens, burros) and caring for them in all aspects. A qualified applicant will respect the manner in which the owner directs care to be done.
A qualified applicant will be respectful of apartment, ranch property, ranch animals, other employees and visitors at all times. Trust, dependability and communication is the crux of this position. If you are someone who likes to have visitors in and out all the time, this is not a good position for you.
A qualified applicant MUST have a clean driving record and be insurable on ranch vehicles. No exceptions.
A qualified applicant is a self-starter and able to work the same when owners are on the ranch as well as when they are off the ranch.
We use a work phone app to track and organize various ranch tasks - a qualified applicant is able and willing to use a phone in this manner.
General duties include: Feeding, Watering, Cleaning (picking stalls, chicken coop, goat pens etc), and Care for Ranch Animals is the backbone of this position; Maintain ranch supplies and order/purchase prior to running out; Fuel up and maintain ranch vehicles; Monitor ranch for broken pipes, leaks, predators, trespassers and other safety and security issues; Bring mail and packages in daily; Maintain Ranch tidiness/cleanliness/safety; Regularly maintain arenas; Manage outside contractors/maintenance folks while on premises; Irrigation of pastures/crops (pivots, pods, handlines, drip system - during irrigation season); Manage all aspects of winter care, preparation, and maintenance; Trash and recycling; Maintain varmint/rodent traps; Communicate regularly and often with owners; Additional duties will be added and modified. *THIS IS NOT A HORSE BACK RIDING POSITION*
As this is a Live In position on a privately owned ranch, a qualified candidate will live in a manner that is acceptable to Owners. Illegal drug use, or abuse of any substance is not permitted.
