About the Role
The HR Generalist supports day-to-day HR operations across a multi-site, multi-state environment. This role partners closely with employees and managers to provide guidance on employee relations matters, leave administration, HR compliance, HRIS, and general HR operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable working independently while maintaining confidentiality and escalating complex matters when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Employee relations & HR support
- Serve as a resource for managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters
- Assist with workplace investigations, employee concerns, corrective actions, and documentation
- Ensure consistent and compliant HR practices across multiple locations
- Partner with leadership to support employee engagement and foster a positive workplace culture
- Leave of absence administration
- Administer and track leaves of absence including FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability, paid family leave, and state-mandated leave programs
- Coordinate with employees, managers, payroll, and third-party administrators on leave eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work processes
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave regulations, particularly within Northeast states
- Compliance & HR operations
- Support compliance efforts related to wage and hour laws, onboarding, employee documentation, and policy administration
- Process HR transactions, maintain employee records, and assist with reporting and audits
- Support onboarding, offboarding, and other core HR operational processes
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee information within the HRIS
- HR systems & reporting
- Utilize HRIS to process employee transactions, maintain data integrity, and generate reports
- Assist employees and managers with HR system questions and self-service functionality
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance HR efficiency
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of HR Generalist experience
- Experience supporting multi-site and multi-state operations, ideally in the Northeast
- Demonstrated experience managing leaves of absence, including FMLA and state-mandated paid family and medical leave programs
- Employee relations experience, including workplace investigations and sensitive employee matters
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Self-sufficient and capable of working independently while partnering effectively with leadership
- Experience with HRIS systems and maintaining employee data integrity
- Working knowledge of Northeast labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and state-specific employment practices — particularly Massachusetts and surrounding states
Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
