Position Summary

The Regional Director, Operations (RDO) provides strategic and operational leadership for multiple healthcare practice locations within an assigned region. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing the patient experience, improving financial performance, and developing high-performing teams. The RDO partners with clinical leaders, executive leadership, and corporate support functions to implement operational initiatives that support organizational growth and quality outcomes.

Essential Functions

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple subspecialty healthcare practice locations within the assigned region.
  • Partner with providers to identify operational improvement opportunities that enhance patient access, clinical efficiency, and overall practice performance.
  • Standardize processes, policies, and procedures across locations to enhance productivity and compliance.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage regional budgets, including revenue targets, expense management, and profitability analysis.
  • Monitor key financial and operational metrics to identify opportunities for growth and cost optimization.
  • Partner with finance and revenue cycle teams to support billing processes, reimbursement management, and achievement of financial goals.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop practice leadership teams to ensure effective operations, employee engagement, and retention.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, establish goals, and support professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry regulations and standards.
  • Partner with compliance and quality teams to implement and monitor policies that support safety, quality, and regulatory adherence.

Patient & Customer Experience

  • Champion initiatives designed to improve patient satisfaction and service quality.
  • Review feedback and performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Address service concerns proactively and implement corrective action plans when needed.

Growth & Business Development

  • Identify opportunities for operational growth, expansion, strategic partnerships, and service enhancements.
  • Support evaluation and integration activities related to acquisitions, mergers, or expansion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful organizational transitions and implementations.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding performance, challenges, and recommended improvements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7-8 years of leadership experience with demonstrated success developing and leading teams.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing multiple locations, regions, or business units.

Licensure/Certification

  • None required.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, regulatory requirements, reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle management.
  • Understanding of financial management principles, budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with business software applications and operational reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of marketing, business development, and growth strategies.
  • Understanding of employee development, engagement, and performance management practices.

Physical Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
