This role is responsible for ensuring our buildings, grounds, and workplace operations run efficiently while supporting business objectives and employee needs.
Position Summary
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management of facility operations, including building systems, maintenance programs, office services, security, environmental compliance, shipping and receiving, grounds maintenance, vendor management, and workplace improvements. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, productive, and cost-effective environment across multiple facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation and maintenance of company facilities and grounds.
- Manage service contracts and vendors for janitorial services, landscaping, snow removal, security, maintenance, and other facility-related functions.
- Coordinate office space planning, facility renovations, relocations, and workplace improvements.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, capital expenditures, and facility-related projects.
- Oversee building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and security systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage facility fleet vehicles and related maintenance programs.
- Coordinate cafeteria, vending, mail services, shipping and receiving, and storage operations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and operational efficiencies.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to support business needs and maintain a high-quality workplace experience.
- Respond to facility emergencies and ensure timely resolution of operational issues.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive experience in facilities management, building operations, maintenance, property management, or a related field.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and facility service providers.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and security systems.
- Experience developing and managing budgets and capital improvement projects.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), PMP, or similar professional certification.
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or corporate office environments.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and sustainability initiatives.
- Experience overseeing energy management and environmental compliance programs.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and movement throughout the facility. The role may occasionally require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
