Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, scaling, and polishing to promote optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless workflow during general dentistry procedures, including pediatric dentistry when applicable.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a private dental practice or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is advantageous for working with young patients.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding related to dental procedures.
- Experience in chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments and supporting various treatments.
- Demonstrated ability to perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging accurately.
