What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist/ Mill Programmer position at Confidential?
We Aren't Looking for Just Another Machinist.
We're looking for the person others rely on when the job gets difficult.
The one who enjoys figuring out the best way to machine a part—not just the fastest.
The one who sees an inefficient setup, a poor program, or unnecessary tool changes and immediately starts thinking about how to improve it.
Someone who takes pride in building parts right the first time.
If that sounds like you, keep reading.
The Work
At Systematic Manufacturing (SMI), we produce precision components for the aerospace, defense, automotive, and advanced technology industries.
We aren't a high-volume production shop. Our work is challenging, varied, and requires people who enjoy solving problems.
We're looking for someone who can take ownership of a job from start to finish—programming, setup, prove-out, production, and continuous improvement.
You'll have the opportunity to make an impact, not simply run someone else's program.
What Success Looks Like
· Program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines with confidence.
· Read complex blueprints and apply GD&T without hesitation.
· Develop efficient machining strategies that balance quality, tool life, and cycle time.
· Troubleshoot problems independently and make sound decisions on the shop floor.
· Take ownership of quality instead of relying on someone else to catch mistakes.
· Continuously look for better ways to improve processes, tooling, and programs.
· Be the kind of teammate others enjoy working with and learning from.
What You'll Bring
· Strong CNC mill programming experience (CAM experience preferred)
· Experience with 3, 4, and/or 5-axis machining
· Advanced setup experience
· Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds
· Blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency
· A commitment to producing quality work with minimal supervision
What You'll Find Here
You'll find challenging work.
You'll find modern equipment.
You'll find people who care about quality and craftsmanship.
What you won't find is unnecessary bureaucracy or someone standing over your shoulder every day.
If you have ideas that improve quality, efficiency, or safety, we want to hear them.
Compensation
Pay is competitive and based on your experience, abilities, and the value you bring to the team.
We're looking for the right person—not simply the next available person.
Why SMI?
The best machinists don't just make parts.
They solve problems.
They improve processes.
They make the people around them better.
If you're looking for a place where your skills are respected, your contributions matter, and you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging precision components, we'd welcome the opportunity to talk.
You may not be actively looking for a new job—and that's okay. Most of the people we're interested in aren't. But if you're curious about joining a team that values craftsmanship, autonomy, and continuous improvement, let's have a confidential conversation. There are no recruiters, no pressure, and no obligation. Just a chance to see if there's a better opportunity waiting for you.
