Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and operationally driven Chief Operating Officer to help lead the organization through its next phase of growth and operational evolution. This role will partner closely with ownership and executive leadership to align operations, people, systems, and execution across a diversified platform of businesses operating throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The ideal candidate is a proven operator with experience leading complex, multi-division, mid-sized organizations with distributed teams and multi-state operations. This individual must be comfortable operating in entrepreneurial environments where growth, accountability, and execution are equally important. The COO will play a critical role in translating leadership vision into operational execution while building the structure, communication, and performance expectations necessary for scalable growth.
This is not a sit-behind-the-desk leadership role. We are looking for a hands-on executive who leads through visibility, accountability, communication, and engagement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations across multiple divisions and operating companies within Motive Companies
- Drive operational excellence, accountability, communication, and execution across a distributed North American platform
- Partner closely with ownership and executive leadership to execute strategic growth initiatives
- Build scalable systems, reporting structures, and operational processes that improve visibility and performance
- Develop KPI-driven operating cadences across departments, divisions, and leadership teams
- Improve operational efficiency, profitability, and organizational alignment across business units
- Lead and mentor operational leaders, field teams, and support functions across multiple geographies
- Foster a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, transparency, integrity, and collaboration
- Evaluate organizational structure, talent, and workflows to support future growth and scalability
- Work cross-functionally with finance, sales, recruiting, HR, operations, and service delivery teams to ensure alignment and execution
- Support integration and operational consistency across existing and future divisions
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years executive leadership experience (preferably c-suite) within a mid-sized, multi-division organization that has experienced dynamic year-over-year growth in revenue and profitability
- Degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience
- Experience leading businesses with operations across multiple states and geographies
- Strong operational leadership experience in industries such as infrastructure services, telecom, energy, engineering, industrial services, construction, logistics, or related field-based environments
- Demonstrated success leading distributed teams and managing operational complexity at scale
- Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, margin management, and operational reporting
- Experience implementing systems, operational processes, KPI structures, and accountability frameworks
- Hands-on leadership style with exceptional communication and people leadership skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
- High integrity, strong work ethic, and a leadership style rooted in accountability and ownership

Compensation
Compensation package will be commensurate with experience and includes base salary, performance incentives, and long-term growth opportunity.
