Accounting Specialist - Revenue
Job Summary:
The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition and commissions accounting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. This role supports the monthly close process, prepares reconciliations and financial analyses, reviews complex customer contracts, and partners cross-functionally to ensure compliance with revenue accounting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review customer contracts and revenue transactions to ensure compliance with ASC 606 and company policies.
• Prepare and document accounting assessments related to contract modifications and revenue recognition.
• Process revenue recognition activities within the ERP system and support month-end close activities.
• Perform account reconciliations, financial analyses, billing reviews, and revenue reporting.
• Review sales orders for accuracy and compliance with contract and billing terms.
• Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate recognition of services revenue.
• Provide accounting guidance to Commercial and Legal teams regarding contract structures and revenue implications.
• Support external audit requests and provide necessary documentation related to revenue accounting.
• Manage commission accounting activities, including accruals, capitalization, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Maintain documentation related to revenue recognition policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend operational enhancements.
• Mentor and support junior accounting team members as needed.
• Perform additional accounting and finance-related projects as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on revenue accounting.
• Strong experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition principles required.
• Experience within Software, SaaS, or technology-related industries preferred.
• Experience reviewing and accounting for complex customer contracts required.
• Experience with commissions or sales incentive accounting preferred.
Special Requirements:
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
• Experience with ERP systems required; NetSuite ARM experience strongly preferred.
• Experience using commission management software preferred.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and audit support processes.
