About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our assembly team. In this role, you will build and test electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies that directly contribute to the quality and function of our finished products. This is an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on technical skills in a structured, supportive environment where precision and craftsmanship are valued. Day shift position: consistent Monday-Friday schedule with no rotating shifts required

Position Overview

Under general supervision, transform raw cast components into finished, production-ready parts using a variety of artistic and fabrication techniques. Responsibilities span surface preparation, painting, trimming, assembly, gluing, pattern-making, sewing, and finish detailing. The primary focus is on the aesthetic quality and durability of all visible surfaces of finished products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect and process cast components to ensure conformity with established quality standards
  • Repair and blend surface imperfections including blemishes, voids, and similar defects to achieve a seamless finish
  • Remove flashing and parting lines from castings; blend and minimize seam visibility
  • Prepare surfaces and apply color, shading, and finish treatments using appropriate paints and coatings
  • Develop working knowledge of materials, compounds, and processes used within the finishing department
  • Apply surface appliances and detail elements as required by product specifications
  • Learn and apply hair or fiber punching/insertion techniques as needed
  • Produce basic castings from existing molds
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of trimming, assembly, and bonding techniques, including fabrication of assembly fixtures
  • Assemble and bond critical sub-assemblies with accuracy and consistency
  • Under direction, render patterns and/or plans to support fabrications for both development and production units
  • Generate fitting patterns; sew and/or bond functional soft goods using a variety of fabric types
  • Fabricate component parts from hard and soft materials using processes such as casting, trimming, tooling, bonding, sculpting, and painting
  • Learn foundational build-up fabrication techniques
  • Assist with final product assembly, inspection, and pack-out
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workspace
  • Monitor and reorder basic departmental materials as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Reports to: Finishing Department Supervisor / Department Head

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree in Fine or Commercial Arts, completion of a vocational arts program, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in a paint and fabrication environment
  • Excellent manual dexterity and strong attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid painting ability with strong color theory knowledge; basic spray equipment operation and maintenance
  • Proficiency with artist tools and small hand/power tools (brushes, sculpting tools, rotary tools, etc.)
  • Ability to conceptualize and work in three dimensions
  • Basic ability to hand- or machine-sew a variety of fabrics
  • Basic knowledge of notions and closure hardware (zippers, snaps, etc.)
  • Foundational sculpting skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine or Commercial Arts, or 4 years in a paint and fabrication environment
  • Experience working with cast materials and mold processes
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
