Senior Accountant / Lead Accountant for highly successful and growing firm. This real estate investment company is very stable, looking for someone who wants a long term home and has hundreds of millions of dollars of assets under management including commercial and residential real estate, public and private property investments, and multiple others.
Location: West Los Angeles. Applicants must be local to Southern California, West LA preferred.
Must be willing to work on-site although a hybrid schedule can be considered once the selected applicant is established in their role.
NOTE: This position has both accounting through to financial statement responsibilities but will also learn on the job about budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, etc. (unless you already have this experience, in which case you will still be an excellent fit).
The role will participate, along with the rest of the accounting team and CFO, in all areas of month-end close and will have complete oversight of financial statements. Experience in all areas of accounting from AP, AR, GL, reporting, and tax is preferred.
If you have recent Senior Accountant or Bookkeeping responsibilities and you are willing to roll up your sleeves managing the accounting and can be a key contributor as well as help influence the entire business, this role may be right for you.
Position:
Reporting to and partnering with the CFO and executive leadership team, the Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in the company and help fine tune the month-end close process and production of financial statements.
Fundamentals:
· Perform all accounting functions from start to finish for an assigned portfolio of companies.
· Responsible for posting and adjusting all journal entries.
· Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, control accounts, and fixed assets.
· Post adjusting journal entries, prepaids and amortizations.
· Work with external CPA firms and procure necessary documents for tax returns, estimated tax payments and all requests to comply with GAAP.
· Prepare special project requests as well as maintain cash projections, loan summaries and adherence to letters of credit.
· Secure financial information by keeping information confidential.
· Maintain accounting controls by following checks and balances as well as other policies and procedures; develop new ones as needed.
· Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
· Create and maintain a culture of compliance and organizational excellence through collaboration with accounting, financial planning and analysis.
· Manage monthly and yearly financial close, assist in the annual budgeting process, assist in the annual financial audit, process intercompany transactions and accruals, assure all financial transactions conform to GAAP and special projects as required
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
· CPA (active or inactive) is a plus but may be substituted for experience.
· Previous work experience in both small to mid sized company or public accounting .
· Experience in GL accounting including month-end close or audit/assurance experience.
· Strong Excel skills preferred.
· Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interface with all levels of management.
· Ability to manage a broad range of activities and juggle multiple tasks.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills.
· Organized, self-motivated, ability to multi-task and work independently.
