Position Summary
The Occupational Therapist delivers high-quality, goal-oriented therapy services to patients to enhance functional independence. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting evaluations, establishing treatment goals, and developing individualized treatment plans
- Implementing and progressing interventions to support functional improvement
- Providing caregiver education for continued success outside therapy sessions
- Establishing discharge criteria and anticipating discharge needs
- Completing all department documentation within required timeframes
- Delegating and supervising therapy aides appropriately
- Assisting with the orientation and guidance of new staff and students
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Identifying patient needs requiring further medical attention and coordinating with nursing/physician staff
- Performing administrative duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
- Current state OT license (MUST HAVE IL)
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within six months)
- 1–2 years of experience with geriatric populations preferred (new graduates welcome to apply)
- Strong communication skills and professional presence
- Demonstrated responsibility, initiative, and integrity
- Genuine interest in working with elderly and rehabilitation populations
- Ability to handle physical demands including lifting, transferring patients, and maneuvering equipment
- Adequate fine motor coordination and visual/perceptual skills for treatment activities
