Job Summary
A confidential manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Materials Manager to oversee material planning, inventory management, purchasing coordination, warehousing, and material flow. The successful candidate will ensure materials are available to support production while maintaining inventory accuracy, controlling costs, and improving overall supply-chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily materials, inventory, warehouse, and material-flow activities.
- Ensure raw materials and components are available to meet production requirements.
- Coordinate material requirements with production schedules and forecasts.
- Monitor inventory levels, shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete materials.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and physical inventory activities.
- Work with suppliers to address delivery, quality, and material availability issues.
- Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams.
- Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and on-time delivery.
- Maintain accurate inventory and material information within ERP/MRP systems.
- Develop and improve inventory-control processes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, waste, shortages, and excess inventory.
- Track key materials-management performance indicators.
- Lead continuous-improvement initiatives related to inventory, warehouse operations, and material flow.
- Supervise, coach, and develop materials and warehouse personnel.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, inventory control, purchasing, or manufacturing.
- Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory-management processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement is a plus.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
