Confero is partnering exclusively with Zania, a cash-flow-positive Series A backed by Anthropic and Menlo, building agentic AI that executes security compliance end-to-end for enterprise customers.
Their agents interpret security frameworks, design controls, write policies, evaluate vendors, close evidence, and run thousand-step workflows with near-zero human input.
Zania is led by Shruti Gupta (Founding Engineer at Airbnb; Applied Security at Microsoft AI), and she’s building a high-signal engineering team onsite in Palo Alto.
The Role
Zania is hiring Senior and Staff Software Engineers to build the backend systems that power their agentic AI platform.
This is true 0→1 product engineering: you will be designing accuracy-critical logic, scaling long-running agent workflows, and shipping features directly used by global enterprises.
You will work directly with the founder and a small, elite engineering team. Expect ownership, fast learning loops, and meaningful responsibility from day one.
What You’ll Work On
- Build core product features that directly impact enterprise customers
- Scale backend systems that run multi-hour, multi-step AI agent workflows
- Maintain accuracy, reliability and determinism across real customer datasets
- Work primarily in Python, with light TypeScript/React where needed
- Improve agent orchestration, workflow performance and long-running task execution
- Contribute to architectural decisions for data modelling, retrieval and system resilience
What They’re Looking For
- 3 years building customer-facing products end-to-end
- Strong Python engineering experience; comfortable owning backend systems
- Experience operating in high-ambiguity, fast-moving environments
- Clear evidence of shipping features based on real customer feedback
- High-signal pedigree: strong CS fundamentals, strong engineering cultures, or meaningful 0→1 product work
- Product mindset: able to balance correctness, speed and iteration
- Comfortable working onsite in Palo Alto, in a high-intensity, high-ownership environment
