Physician Assistant

White Swan Ambulance/Health Clinic

Department of Tribal Health

Hourly Wage: $68.11/Regular/Full-Time

 

A Public/Community Health Physician Assistant (PA) plays a vital role in improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities. This position involves providing clinical care, preventive healthcare services, health education, and community outreach to address public health issues and promote overall wellness.

 

Examples of Work Performed:

Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical examinations and medical histories.

Diagnose and treat common medical conditions and chronic illnesses.

Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary.

Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to deliver quality patient care.

Administer vaccinations and immunizations to individuals of all ages.

Provide health screenings, including blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings, and cancer screenings.

Develop and implement preventive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.

Educate patients and community members on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and health promotion.

Conduct health workshops, seminars, and community outreach events to raise awareness about specific health issues.

Create and distribute educational materials on relevant health topics.

Collaborate with local health departments and organizations to support public health campaigns and initiatives.

Assist in the surveillance and monitoring of infectious diseases and other public health concerns.

Participate in disaster preparedness and response efforts as needed.

Collect and analyze health data to identify trends and areas of concern within the community.

Assist in research projects related to public and community health.

Contribute to the development of evidence-based healthcare policies and programs.

Work closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.

Collaborate with community leaders and organizations to address social determinants of health.

Build partnerships with local schools, community centers, and advocacy groups to promote health equity.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and health information.

Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and standards.

Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge to utilize independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and provision of ongoing care to ambulatory patients that is in accordance with Physician Assistant licensure regulations for the state of Washington.

Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others. Exhibits respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Ability to use evidence-based standards, guidelines, and protocols to the delivery of patient care. Incorporates new information and approaches, when appropriate, to continuously improve patient care and practice.

Ability to demonstrate leadership skills through participation in program development. Ensures ongoing growth and development of clinical skills and knowledge by assuming responsibility for lifelong learning.

Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, also serves as a resource and mentor.

Knowledge of documenting patient medical files and HIPAA Laws.

Ability to prescribe and dispense medication according to existing protocol.

Ability to order appropriate diagnostic and development screening tests, determine appropriate treatment plans, analyze, and interpret routine laboratory results.

Ability to counsel and educate patients and provide follow-up care and determine the patient's compliance to therapy and response to treatment.

 

Ability to use tele-health with patients.

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare software.

Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Must be a Physician Assistant credentialed from Washington State.

Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License.

Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

 

Preferred Requirements:

Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
