JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Assistant Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
REPORTS TO: Business Manager
SUPERVISES: All custodians and cleaners
SUMMARY: The Assistant Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds shall assist the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds with the direction of the custodial/cleaning staff and the operation, maintenance, improvement, safety, and security of the buildings, grounds, and related vehicles and equipment at all district facilities. The Assistant Supervisor of Building and Grounds will ensure that all district facilities can be utilized at all times for optimal educational, extra-curricular, and community functions in an environment that is clean, comfortable, safe, and attractive for all students, staff, and public.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø High School diploma or equivalent is necessary and must meet all physical requirements consistent with the Custodian position.
Ø Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Drivers License.
Ø Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of building operating systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing and electrical, and overall facilities maintenance, construction, and renovation.
Ø Must demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills and have the ability to supervise a team of up to 25 employees.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds will work with and assist the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds in the execution of the following job duties:
Ø Identify and maintain adequate staffing levels of full-time, part-time, and substitute custodians and cleaners by assisting the Business Manager in the selection and recommendation of job candidates to be hired by the Board of Directors.
Ø Establish work routines and provide ongoing training to all members of custodial/cleaning staff.
Ø Create and post work schedules for all members of custodial/cleaning staff and monitor timesheets to verify schedule compliance.
Ø Through observations and inspections, evaluate the performance of each member of the custodial/cleaning staff and provide appropriate feedback on a regular basis including one annual written performance evaluation.
Ø Examine school buildings, vehicles, and equipment on a regular basis to prioritize and recommend needed repairs and maintenance.
Ø Plan, coordinate, oversee, and participate in all cleaning, maintenance and repair work, and preventative maintenance in all district facilities while maintaining a high standard for safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
Ø Ensure proper disposal and/or recycling of all waste, refuse, and hazardous material.
Ø Plan, coordinate, oversee, and participate in all grounds maintenance/beautification including but not limited to grass, shrubs, trees, plants, etc. at all district facilities.
Ø Attend and participate in relevant district committee meetings and Board of Education meetings when necessary.
Ø Attend and participate in relevant training workshops and conferences for job enhancement purposes and to stay informed about safety, health, and environmental regulations, emergency procedures, and new cleaning materials and methods.
Ø Strive constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students and employees.
Ø Maintain an inventory and recommend purchases of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
Ø Partner with Building Principals on a regular basis to identify and address building specific maintenance issues.
Ø Partner with the Technology Coordinator and assist with planning and installation of all new technology.
Ø Remain on call 24 hours per day for emergency situations.
Ø Perform any and all other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Business Manger or Superintendent.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated on a regular ongoing basis by the Business Manager and will include one annual written performance evaluation.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
