Equipment Specialist

Essential Functions

• Follow instructions provided by Manager, or Supervisor, in assignedarea, as necessary.
• Perform allMech/Tech.I, Mech/TechII,Mech/TechIII, andMech/TechIV functions and responsibilities with no hesitation, or limitations.
• The Equipment Specialist can provide front line maintenance, as well as independent preventive and scheduled maintenance.

• Activelyparticipatein the training, coaching, and the development of maintenance staff and operators.

• Recognized as an expert in equipment maintenance, performance, and operation.
• Possess superior trouble-shootingskills, andhas the leadership ability toinitiateand supervise all maintenance activities in assigned area.
• Ensure all maintenance activitiesare in compliance withISO and OSHA guidelines.
• Other duties, as assigned by area Manager or Supervisor.

Required Experience 

• This position requires high level skills for mechanical, electrical, electronics, and pneumatic systems. Experience with robotics and CMMSSoftwareis a plus.
• The Equipment Specialist must have a strong working knowledge of computers and basic Microsoft tools, suchas,Excel, Word, PowerPoint,Maintenance Connections Software,etc. Experience with distribution equipment maintenance for a minimum of 5 years is preferred, or three years of experience as a Mech/Tech IV.
• Must be capable of working without supervision anddemonstratemastery andproficiencyin the operation, maintenance, and calibration of complex high speed distribution equipment.
• The Equipment Specialist must be a positive leader, with the ability to design and initiate training programs to develop the necessary skills requiredofthe technical staff tomaintaina high levelof competence.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications 

• Sixty(60)days on-the-job training under the directsupervisionof an experienced Equipment Specialist, or Department Manager. Power Industrial Truck (PIT) certification may berequiredand must bemaintained.

Additional training requirement needs are assessed during an annual performance evaluation. 

Preferred Education and Experience 

• A minimum high school diploma or equivalent.A technical degree is preferred. 
• Experience may be substituted in place of education with approval based on thequality,and experience, relating to the specific area of specialty.
• General knowledge of PC isrequired. Must haveabilityto perform activities that require attention to detail and communicate effectively.

Work Environment 

• While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to low or elevated temperatures and environments that may be dusty.

Physical Demands 

Maintain a clean workstation and follow all safety requirements.  Perform duties in a standing position for extended periods.  May require lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving material and/or product that weighs ≤ 40 pounds, no ≥ 40 inches. Perform tasks and repairs frequently at heights ≥ 33 feet.  Perform repetitive motion activities as required to support Distribution operations. Reach, push, pull, grasp, handle, bend, lean, stoop, squat, twist, stretch and work in awkward positions to perform required maintenance on equipment, machine set-up, and material movement and handling. Ascending and descending stairs frequently to support production.  Read, understand, and assume responsibility for performance of all procedures, assignments, notices, and policies applicable to assigned area and common areas, including posted notices. 

Travel 

Travel is not expected for this position.
