NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

Cyber security is a fast-growing and high-demand field. Protecting an organization’s digital information from security breaches and information theft is critical to its success. Organizations employ multiple strategies to secure software applications, network infrastructure and computer systems. Those strategies include routine security compliance checks and risk mitigation.

Conduent is seeking a Network Security Engineer. The individual who fills this role should possess the knowledge and skills of a generalized Network Engineer, plus have a desire to expand those skills into areas of cyber security. Competencies include:

• Assessing and documenting firewall access rules
• Evaluating security risks associated with actively deployed network applications and services
• Remediating firewall rules that fail to meet the strict access control standards adopted by Conduent
• Performing configuration changes to network infrastructure equipment
• Remediating network device vulnerabilities identified during routine security scans
• Troubleshooting and correcting network connectivity issues
• Installing software updates on network routers, switches, and firewalls
• Monitoring vendor critical security alerts, determining specific use-case security implications, and planning remediation steps
• Maintaining network device inventories
• Create Python scripts to automate routine compliance checks
• Collecting network security compliance evidence

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Having a bachelor's degree in an IT-related field is preferred
• Two years of experience working in a network infrastructure support role
• Cisco CCNA certification preferred
• Considerable experience performing configuration changes to Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches
• Experience performing software upgrades to Cisco network equipment
• Having familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls is a plus
• Possessing a strong knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol stack, routing protocols, DNS and DHCP is required
• Knowledge of Linux and the ability to create Linux virtual machines using Oracle VirtualBox or VMware Desktop.
• Experience with at least one scripting language and a willingness to become proficient with the Python language.

USEFUL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Knowledge of PCI DSS 3.2 and PCI DSS 4.0
• Understanding network design and operations security best-practices
• Having familiarity with the Linux command line
• Proficient at writing Python scripts

FOUNDATIONAL ABILITIES

• Having the ability to meet deliverable timelines, and to work independently
• Being familiar with corporate productivity tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Outlook Email, and Teams
• Applying logical thinking to resolve complex support issues and system faults
• Demonstrating excellent writing skills when documenting standards and procedures - paying attention to detail
• Having a willingness to adapt to changes that are typical in a demanding technical-driven environment
• Possessing the ability to articulate issues to management in a diplomatic, concise, and constructive manner
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer
