What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Foreman position at Conductor Power, LLC?
The Survey Foreman is responsible for leading a field survey crew and performing daily layout activities including setting control points, grade staking, and verifying as-built data. Working under the direction of the Survey General Foreman, this role ensures that layout tasks are executed with accuracy and in alignment with project drawings, specifications, and schedule requirements. The Survey Foreman plays a key role in supporting construction sequencing and ensuring quality and safety across survey functions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead a crew in performing survey layout tasks including pile staking, trench alignment, fencing, access roads, and structural benchmarks.
- Set up and operate survey equipment such as GPS rovers, total stations, and digital levels.
- Interpret construction plans and layout drawings to execute accurate field measurements.
- Coordinate daily layout needs with field engineers, superintendents, and other site leaders.
- Ensure survey data is captured accurately and transmitted to the Survey General Foreman for QA/QC.
- Maintain and care for survey equipment, ensuring calibration and readiness.
- Identify and communicate any field conflicts or discrepancies in plans or site conditions.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and promote a safety-first culture within the survey crew.
- Keep accurate field notes and assist in documenting daily work performed.
- Complies with all company policies.
- All other duties assigned or delegated.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in GPS layout, total station use, and related survey tools
- Ability to read and interpret construction and site layout drawings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with digital field documentation and data collection practices
- Understanding of safety requirements in civil or solar EPC construction environments
- Capable of training and mentoring entry-level survey team members
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3 years of experience in civil or utility-scale survey layout work
- Prior experience as a lead or crew chief preferred
- Solar construction experience highly desirable
- Valid driver’s license required
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, walking, and standing.
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and other team members.
- When navigating a job site, the ability to move around project sites, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain.
