The Safety Technician will focus on the practical implementation of safety measures in the field by overseeing the safety protocols and procedures during field operations, conducting inspections, audits, and providing training to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Strong personal presence at the worksite helping employees learn to recognize hazard and protect themselves and their co-workers.
Implement hazard control designs, methods, procedures, and programs; and advise and educate others.
Measure the effectiveness of hazard control elements.
Observe task performance to ensure compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
Document and track results to support safety program elements.
Support the Director of EHS with incident investigations to identify root cause, determine corrective actions.
Support Construction team on-site as needed.
Conduct behavior-based safety observations and coach employees as required.
Perform safety walks and safety audits.
Lead site orientation for new hires and visitors as needed.
Assist with various safety training sessions as needed.
Identify PPE needs for Operations team and assist in acquiring PPE as needed.
Ensure that safety equipment such as personal protective gear, fall protection systems, and fire suppression devices are properly maintained, inspected, and replaced as needed to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
Coordinate on use of online lockout/tagout and inspection system to ensure completeness and consistency.
Assist Director of EHS and Maintenance team that EHS job tasks are completed in
Assist Operations team to respond to dig alerts in the field.
Monitor site security during site visits and present any concerns to the Director of EHS to be addressed.
On an as-needed basis for new hires conduct drug testing or random drug testing.
Respond to emergencies and coordinate evacuation procedures, first aid treatment, and emergency services as necessary.

Requirements
Completion of 4 years of high school or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Completion of OSHA 30.
OSHA 510 a plus
Experience in identifying potential hazards and risks and the ability to correct these risks.
Influential leadership skills sufficient to coach and train employees in the field
Knowledge of OSHA health and safety policies and regulations.
Ability to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices during task performance.
Excellent verbal and written communication required.
Proficiency in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) on a PC or tablet required.
Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize job duties, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, although an associate's degree or certificate in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
Specialized training and certifications in safety related areas such as OSHA standards, first aid, CPR, handling hazardous materials and confined space entry are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
When navigating a job site, the ability to move around project sites, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain.
Travel:
Ability to travel up to 100% of the time.
