Description
The Mechanical General Foreman leads and coordinates the work of multiple mechanical crews, ensuring racking and module installation and/or pile/foundation activities meet project specifications, schedules, and safety standards. This role bridges execution and leadership, facilitating communication between field crews, the Mechanical Superintendent, and other disciplines on site.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises multiple Foremen and installation crews (self-perform and/or subcontracted). Responsible for task planning, workforce scheduling, and field team leadership.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Direct and support Foremen and crews in mechanical work, including pile install, racking, torque tubes, and module placement.
Monitor productivity, inspect work progress, and adjust plans as needed to meet installation targets.
Verify proper installation per mechanical drawings and tracker system manufacturer specifications.
Maintain accurate daily reports, labor tracking, and quality control logs.
Coordinate with logistics on equipment, parts, and material needs to avoid delays.
Conduct jobsite inspections and enforce adherence to safety practices and procedures.
Participate in daily planning meetings and coordinate work with civil and electrical trades.
Mentor and coach foremen and installers, promoting a strong safety and quality culture.
Complies with all company policies.

Requirements
Proficient in solar mechanical system installations (fixed tilt and single-axis tracker systems).
Skilled in managing large field crews and production tracking.
Knowledgeable in mechanical tolerances and field QA/QC practices.
Willingness to travel and work in outdoor conditions.
Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED
5+ years of experience in mechanical construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Prior solar project experience preferred
OSHA 30 certification required
Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, walking, and standing.
Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and other team members.
When navigating a job site, the ability to move around project sites, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain.
Valid driver’s license.
