Description
The Foundation Foreman is responsible for supervising day-to-day field activities related to civil foundation work on renewable energy projects. This includes managing crew assignments for excavation, trenching, rebar installation, formwork, pile driving, and concrete pours. The Foundation Foreman ensures that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project specifications and schedules.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate daily activities of foundation crews, including laborers and equipment operators.
Supervise tasks such as ground prep, trenching, pile driving, form setting, rebar placement, and concrete pours.
Interpret construction drawings and layout plans to guide field work.
Monitor productivity and report daily progress, delays, and material/equipment needs to the Foundation Superintendent.
Ensure that all work meets quality standards and complies with safety regulations.
Conduct daily pre-task plans and safety toolbox talks with the crew.
Collaborate with survey teams and QA/QC personnel to verify layout, elevations, and pour readiness.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite environment.
Assist with receiving and staging of materials for foundation work.
Report issues related to crew performance, weather impacts, and equipment breakdowns in real time.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
3–5 years of experience in civil construction, with emphasis on concrete, excavation, or structural foundations.
At least 1–2 years in a lead or foreman role preferred.
Proficient in reading construction drawings and executing field layout.
Knowledge of pile driving, rebar installation, concrete formwork, and finishing techniques.
Strong leadership and communication skills in a field environment.
Ability to operate small equipment and hand tools as needed.
OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Trade or vocational training in construction, concrete work, or related fields is a plus.
On-the-job leadership progression is highly valued.
Travel:
Ability to travel 100% to jobsite locations.
