Fleet & Yard Coordinator (Heavy Equipment / Site Civil)
Long Island, NY
$75,000 – $105,000 depending on experience
This is a field-first role. Not an office job.
I’m looking for someone who understands equipment, has been around crews, and knows what it takes to keep jobs moving. This role sits between the yard, the shop, and the field. If equipment is down, the day falls apart. You’re the one who makes sure that doesn’t happen.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
Running the Shop (Primary Focus)
- Directing mechanics on repairs and priorities
- Tracking equipment downtime and pushing turnaround
- Keeping service and maintenance organized
- Communicating with the field when equipment issues come up
Owning the Yard
- Keeping equipment, tools, and materials organized
- Tracking inventory (pipe, fittings, small tools, consumables)
- Staging equipment and tools for upcoming jobs
- Making sure nothing gets lost or buried
Making Sure Tomorrow Is Ready
- Checking in with foremen at the end of the day
- Coordinating equipment moves and tool readiness
- Helping line up trucks/drivers if needed
- Making sure crews aren’t waiting around in the morning
Handling Problems in Real Time
- Equipment breakdowns
- Missing tools or materials
- Supplier runs when needed
- Being the go-to between yard, shop, and field
Who This Is For
- Mechanic, assistant mechanic, or shop foreman ready to step up
- Equipment-heavy foreman/operator
- Yard or fleet manager from a construction company
If you’ve never worked around heavy equipment, this isn’t the role.
What Matters
- You hate downtime
- You don’t let things sit broken
- You can hold people accountable without drama
- You understand how equipment actually works
If you’ve been in the field or shop and are looking for a role with more responsibility, this is a strong next step.
