The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in federal and DoD SOH programs, have prior experience at the GS-15/O-6 level or higher, and demonstrate a strong record of advising senior military and civilian leadership. • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in DoD safety and occupational health policies, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with senior DoD officials across Military Departments and Defense Agencies to support policy development and integration.

  • Deliver direct administrative and policy support including coordination, reporting, and documentation activities.

  • Facilitate working groups and enterprise-wide SOH collaboration efforts across DoD Components.

  • Provide technical guidance on OSHA and DoD SOH program requirements, including compliance, reporting, and recordkeeping.

  • Support strategic planning and long-term development of safety and health policy at the enterprise level.

  • Represent OSD in interagency working groups, federal committees, and stakeholder engagements.

  • Identify policy gaps and recommend strategies for continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

  • Prepare and deliver high-level briefings, presentations, and reports to senior DoD leadership on safety and occupational health trends, risks, and strategies.

  • Draft and contribute to the development of DoD issuances (Directives, Instructions, Manuals, Memoranda) related to safety and occupational health.

  • Support preparation of responses to congressional and media inquiries, reports, and testimony as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Safety Engineering, or related discipline).

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in safety and occupational health within a federal or military environment.

  • Experience working at the GS-15 or O-6 level (or equivalent), preferably within a DoD Component or comparable federal agency.

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, federal safety standards, and occupational health compliance in military settings.

  • Proven track record in advising senior leadership on SOH policy development and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated experience in interagency coordination, stakeholder engagement, and high-level regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical and policy concepts for varied audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or a closely related field.
