SAFETY DIRECTOR
Concrete Supply of Illinois and Beelman Ready Mix are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Director. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety of our 150 truck fleet and its drivers, ensuring we maintain an exemplary safety record and a positive company culture. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local, and company policies, procedures, and regulations, making sure to promote a safe, accident free work environment.
Responsibilities
· Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs, including driver training, accident prevention initiatives, and compliance with industry regulations (FMCSA, DOT, etc).
· Analyze driver performance data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve safety and minimize risks.
· Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and investigations to ensure adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
· Build strong relationships with drivers, fostering a culture of safety and open communication.
· Stay current on industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
· Performs accident investigations on crashes involving company equipment. Investigations should seek to prevent recurrence by determining causes, protect against unwarranted to or excessive financial liability and provide an adequate basis for driver discipline or remedial training.
· Ensures all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current.
· Communicate, support and assist Plant Managers regarding all matters of compliance and safety.
· Knowledge of recruiting dependable drivers.
· Monitor and maintain DQ files for all CDL holders.
· Knowledge of Telematics and DOT regulations.
· Serve as an advisory and representative for the company in regards to safety concerns.
· Maintain all reporting for safety statistics and trends, and claim loss dollars.
Qualifications
· Minimum of five years of experience in a transportation safety management role.
· Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and reporting procedures.
· Construction experience preferred.
· Carry out director level responsibilities and manage a multi-faceted workload.
· Fluent in EPA, DOT, FMCSA and OSHA compliance regulations.
· Proven track record of success in reducing accidents and improving safety performance.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Supervisory experience required.
· CDL preferred but not required.
· Visit jobs sites and travel between plants when needed.
