Job Summary
Concrete Industries, Inc. is looking for a high performing, results-oriented individual to join our team. This person will produce produce rebar, pipe and manhole shop drawings from architectural/structural/civil drawings that translate contract documents into usable information providing an accurate and effective communication link to insure proper production, handling and placement of the material supplied by the company. Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reads and understands Architectural, Structural and Civil drawings and specifications.
Produce pipe and manhole drawings and listings that conform to industry and company standards for various structures.
Produce rebar placing drawings and placing lists that conform to industry and company standards for various structures.
Demonstrate an ability to learn industry standards and procedures.
Utilizes knowledge of various computer programs, engineering practices, production practices and standards, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
Produce accurate and detailed lists of material for shop fabrication.
Use AutoCAD to produce pipe and manhole drawings Uses a two-dimensional modeling program called ASA to produce rebar drawings.
On occasion, travel to the job site to resolve any issues that might arise.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Architectural Drafting; and
- one year experience in drafting field outside of college is a plus; or
- equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous pipe drafting experience preferred but not necessary.
Other Qualifications:
- Applicant must have a good knowledge of CAD drafting techniques; AutoCAD is used to create pipe and manhole drawings, ASA is a 2D BIM (Building Information Modeling Software) used to create produce rebar drawings and placing lists. User creates the model then assigns the correct reinforcing after translating the contract documents.
- Must have knowledge and Microsoft Window Systems including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be able to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, determine the need and design calculations.
- Knowledge of precast/prestressed concrete and/or previous precast detailing experience a plus but not a requirement.
- Good communication skills to be able to communicate with architects, contractors and production personnel.
- Must have excellent math skills with a good knowledge of trigonometry.
- Must be able to visualize the assembly of structural components, in three dimensions.
Other Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to work overtime, especially during the spring and summer, sometimes on short notice.
- Ability to think independently and determine what needs to be drawn.
- Must be able to determine the need from the architectural/structural drawings. Previous rebar detailing experience a plus, but not a requirement.
- Good knowledge of English language with ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Reasonable communication skills to be able to communicate with architects, contractors and production personnel.
- Applicant must have excellent math skills with a good knowledge of trigonometry.
- Mentally must be able to visualize the assembly of structural components, in three dimensions.

- Must be willing to learn and demonstrate personal initiative.
- Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Must be willing to communication effectively with employee and customer base on a daily basis.
