Position Description
Concordia University Wisconsin is seeking a skilled and proactive Microsoft Cloud & Systems Engineer to join our IT team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable infrastructure across both on-premises Windows environments and Microsoft cloud platforms (Azure, Microsoft 365). You will play a key role in modernizing our infrastructure, supporting audits, and ensuring operational excellence. It reports to the Assistant Vice President of Information Technology and is located in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- Manage and optimize Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune
- Design, deploy, and monitor Azure infrastructure (VMs, networking, storage, identity)
- Implement and enforce security best practices: Conditional Access, MFA, Defender for Endpoint, and secure baselines
- Support identity and access management using Azure AD, hybrid join, and SSO integrations
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and contribute to infrastructure-as-code initiatives
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and maintain high availability across platforms
- Support and manage Microsoft SCCM and Microsoft Configuration Manager
- Provide Tier 3 support for escalated issues affecting faculty, staff, and student services
- Maintain clear documentation of configurations, procedures, and change management for institutional continuity
- Assist with the support and maintenance of computer desktops
- Research and develop new technologies
- Evaluate and deploy new software, hardware, and operating systems
- Stay current in the field by reading publications, attending training courses, and seminars
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- 5 years of experience in Windows Server administration and Microsoft cloud technologies
- Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS/PaaS, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD)
- Experience with Intune, Autopilot, and Endpoint Manager
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation
- Familiarity with ITGC controls, audit preparation, and secure configuration standards (CIS, NIST)
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance
- Willing to work some evening and weekend hours as needed
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education & Experience
- A degree in Information Technology and/or related work experience is required. Academic computing experience preferred
Preferred:
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, MS-102, SC-300, or MD-102
- Experience supporting academic technologies, hybrid identity, and compliance frameworks
- Exposure to VMware, networking, or disaster recovery planning in a higher ed
