Position Overview

Concorde Education is seeking an engaging, student-centered Fitness Instructor to facilitate a short-format after-school enrichment course for students (grade band varies by assignment). This course supports students in developing healthy movement habits, physical literacy, and confidence through structured, age-appropriate activities that prioritize safety, inclusivity, and positive participation.

Instruction should be educational and skills-based, aligned with site policies and supervision expectations. This role is not intended to provide medical guidance, diagnosis, or individualized training plans. The instructor will deliver instruction across a typical 10-week cycle, with pacing adapted to student readiness and site logistics.

What You Will Teach

Students will participate in guided fitness routines and movement-based activities designed to build foundational strength, endurance, coordination, balance, and flexibility in a supportive environment. Lessons may include warm-ups, skill-building circuits, low-impact cardio, bodyweight exercises, mobility work, and games that reinforce teamwork and goal-setting.

Major Topics Can Include

  • Safe movement practices (warm-up/cool-down routines, hydration reminders, listening to the body)
  • Foundational fitness concepts (endurance, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination)
  • Age-appropriate bodyweight exercises and movement patterns (squat, hinge, push, pull, core stability)
  • Cardio and conditioning games (relay formats, stations, interval-style activities)
  • Flexibility and mobility routines (dynamic stretching, range-of-motion activities)
  • Fitness goal-setting and habit-building (SMART goals, tracking progress, reflection)
  • Teamwork and sportsmanship (encouragement, respectful competition, collaboration)
  • Mind-body wellness connections (breathing, focus, simple stress-management movement routines)
  • Injury prevention basics (form cues, safe space awareness, pacing and rest)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a 10-session fitness course with clear objectives and structured lesson plans
  • Maintain safety-first routines, including appropriate warm-ups, cool-downs, and clear movement expectations
  • Differentiate activities to support varied fitness levels, confidence, and mobility needs
  • Establish positive group management and inclusive participation norms
  • Communicate professionally with site staff and Concorde program contacts regarding attendance and session completion tracking
  • Adapt pacing and activities based on space, equipment availability, and student readiness while maintaining intended outcomes

Qualifications (Required)

  • Minimum of 60 college credits (or Associate degree in progress/completed)
  • Experience leading group fitness, physical activity programming, coaching, or youth wellness activities
  • Experience working with school-age students in structured settings (school, after-school, camps, youth programs)
  • Strong facilitation skills, clear communication, and comfort managing active groups safely
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional; able to follow school policies and program boundaries
  • Ability to model and teach safe form cues and maintain an inclusive, supportive environment
