What You’ll Teach
- Students will learn core drumline skills through active rehearsal and performance-based learning.
- Topics may include:Basic playing techniques (grip, posture)
- Rhythm and timing (counting, subdivision, tempo control)
- Rudiments and sticking patterns (age/level appropriate)
- Ensemble skills (listening, alignment, dynamics, balance)
- Instrument familiarity (snare, bass, tenors/quads, cymbals as available)
- Rehearsal routines and performance preparation
- Lead structured, engaging drumline sessions aligned to program goals
- Adapt instruction for different skill levels and experience
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment
- Support student growth in rhythm, coordination, and ensemble playing
- Communicate with program staff regarding attendance and progress
- Prepare students for a culminating performance or demonstration (if applicable)
- Minimum of 60 college credits (completed or in progress)
- Experience in drumline or marching percussion (performance and/or instruction)
- Experience working with students (schools, camps, or youth programs)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional

- College students in music or percussion programs
- Performing musicians with drumline experience
- Teaching artists and instructors who enjoy working with youth
