Job Summary

Concord University invites applications for the position of Head Men's Basketball Coach. This position is responsible for the leadership, administration, and overall management of the Men's Basketball program in alignment with the mission of the University, the Athletics Department, the NCAA Division II, and the Mountain East Conference (MEC).

The Head Coach is expected to foster a positive student-athlete experience, support academic achievement, and maintain a competitive program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duty/Responsibility

Program Leadership and Administration

• Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Men's Basketball program.
• Ensure program operations comply with NCAA Division II and Mountain East Conference policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Manage program budgets, equipment needs, and operational planning.
• Coordinate team scheduling, travel logistics, and practice planning.
• Represent the program at University, conference, and community events.

Recruitment and Student-Athlete Development

• Identify, recruit, and retain qualified student-athletes who demonstrate academic and athletic potential.
• Develop and implement comprehensive training, practice, and player-development plans.
• Promote academic success, monitor academic progress, and support student-athlete welfare.
• Foster a team culture emphasizing integrity, accountability, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

Competitive Preparation and Performance

• Prepare and execute practice sessions, game strategies, and competitive plans.
• Conduct opponent scouting, film review, and performance analysis.
• Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff to support physical development.
• Work with athletic training personnel regarding injury prevention, treatment, and return-to-play protocols.

Program Advancement and Engagement

• Lead fundraising initiatives and cultivate relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners.
• Organize and oversee camps, clinics, and outreach activities to promote the program.
• Supervise and mentor assistant coach and support staff.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives and support the broader goals of Concord Athletics.

Required Skills

• Collegiate coaching experience
• Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
• Knowledge of NCAA Division II and Mountain East Conference athletics
• Basic computer proficiency
