Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Chemistry Instructor to join our academic team in a part-time hybrid role. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in the chemical sciences and experience teaching high school or college-level Chemistry, including AP Chemistry. This position offers the flexibility to teach both in-person and online, empowering students to engage with chemistry through inquiry, experimentation, and real-world applications.
Candidates with experience in hybrid or fully online instruction and a proven ability to design engaging, interactive learning experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in Chemistry (including General and AP Chemistry) through live sessions and asynchronous content on platforms such as Blackbaud and Edmentum.
- Implement provided curriculum and lesson plans, while adapting instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning objectives.
- Assess student performance through quizzes, labs, tests, and projects; provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic growth.
- Foster scientific inquiry and critical thinking through hands-on lab simulations, collaborative activities, and class discussions.
- Track and evaluate student progress, attendance, and participation; communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding academic concerns.
- Contribute to professional development, instructional planning meetings, and classroom observations to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Collaborate with academic support teams and fellow faculty to ensure alignment with cross-disciplinary learning goals.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, or a closely related field
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in a U.S. high school or college setting
- Demonstrated experience teaching Chemistry or AP Chemistry in in-person, hybrid, or virtual formats
- Proficiency with online teaching tools such as Zoom and Canvas (or comparable platforms)
- Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management skills
Preferred:
- Valid secondary-level teaching credential in Science or Chemistry
- Experience designing and implementing lab-based instruction, including virtual lab simulations
- Familiarity with project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching approaches
- Passion for fostering scientific inquiry, literacy, and student achievement
